Blinded by the light

When I moved into my apartment a few days ago I sent this group text to the other English teachers, "I feel like an insane person, but is it normal for the bathroom sink to leak out the back and drain into the shower?" Turns out no - that is not normal in North America nor Korea! So, I had been using the kitchen sink to brush my teeth. I came home yesterday and it was fixed, and they installed curtains! So much for ripping up that colouring book to cover my windows.

I've filmed some videos of me walking to school. It's in 3 installments so they would be easier to upload. It's about a 10-15 min walk, depending on if there's ice on the sidewalks.

I had another video of me entering the school but it was too big to post, I'll try to take more videos soon. As you can imagine it's quite a busy day settling into the new school and getting things organized with new students. I have to keep reminding myself that they are so young, they are acting this way because it is all new to them. They've never had to line up, or put their hand up to talk, etc. It will take time. I was fortunate enough to watch last year's class graduate. They were so well behaved and could do so much with speaking and spelling, that I know my class can get there too! In a year . .

I am still trying to figure out the whole blog thing. So, I will post this as a permanent thing on the side when I figure out how to do that. But for now, here is my address if you want to send me mail.

And here is what I ate for lunch the other day: Chili cheese bread and a "chocolate fondant" which is basically a lava cake. Yum!

This was a very disjointed post, but I just want to fill you in on what I've been up to!

Lots of love,

Alli
