Oppa Gangnam Style

Come on, you had to know there'd be mention about that song at some point while I was here. Gangnam is a very posh neighbourhood in Seoul so I went there on Saturday to check it out. I didn't go in, but they have a movie theatre with postuerpedic beds that you lay in to watch a movie and people bring you food and drinks. It's expensive, but might be worth it for a special time and a movie you won't fall asleep in. There's lots of interesting architecture, statues and art, and stores for high end shopping. There's even a statue they've erected in tribute to that song with the hands crossed, pictured here. (I was blocked by some random Pilsner beer garden event so I couldn't get too close to it.)

This is the subway station in Gangnam. Even the floor was fancy.
Way nicer than other areas of Seoul I've been!

Sad this store didn't sell tomatoes.

Sad this store didn't sell butter.

As I was walking to the statue above I felt liquid dripping on me.
Luckily, it was a not bodily fluid as I had feared.

The Olypic Stadium is in Gangnam as well. The main street is lined with statues of sports, here are some which I captured from the window of a tour bus. Tour was the equivalent of $7 and I got what I paid for: A Korean woman who would just say: that's the such and such building and give me no other information. But, I got a small tour of the city and sat in air conditioning for an hour, so there we go.

More subway art

Sangria! (the only time I like wine)

On Sunday, Caitlyn, Katy, and I decided to have a low key sunny day at the park. We brought what I think might be a bed sheet and sprawled out on the grass under the sun/shade, listened to music, read books, and ate snacks. Then we walked around, saw some fountains, saw some swan boats in the river, and saw lots of flowers. It was exactly the day we wanted: relaxed and fun.

The future is here

I saw wheat and was immediately drawn to it. You can take the girl out of Saskatchewan
but you can't take the Saskatchewan out of the girl.

I love this photo bomb

 Friends!

That's all for me. No rants to give, no complaints. Kenneth is scheduled to come home tomorrow after being delayed 4 days which I won't get into now. My immediate family is in Ontario visiting our extended family on both sides and I am very jealous. I'm so happy that Autumn has met her maternal great grandparents (paternal have both passed) and some of her great Aunt's and Uncles and cousins. My grandmother made Autumn a teddy bear out of a fur coat that her grandmother gave her. I told the whole family to never get rid of it. Mom said they've already had that discussion!

Lots of love,

Alli
