I literally stayed inside all weekend except to buy some groceries, head to the pharmacy, and get some food. At first I was kind of bummed because it's been boring and also I want to see things, but I think this might be my body's way of telling me to slow down. (Or maybe it's because my kids keep picking their noses and wiping it on me, themselves, and everything in the classroom. Also they keep sneezing on me.) I have a couple of group trips planned for the next few weekends, so I guess it's fine that I didn't do much at all this weekend. Next weekend I'm going on a day long strawberry picking expedition at an organic farm where we can pick strawberries to bring home, eat as many as we want there, learn to make strawberry bread, and can go bungee jumping - which I will not be doing. I did watch all of Season 1 of Stranger Things over the weekend. I didn't want to see it because I thought it would be too scary for me and I don't love science fiction, but it was good.
Last night I wanted pizza so I went to Mr. Pizza. Here is a part of the menu that made me laugh.
Here is a part of the menu that made me happy. Women's day is every Monday and it's 20% off. I am bringing this idea back to Canada. It's marketing genius. Every Monday of the month you are bound to get 1/4 of the female population about to get her period or on her period.
Here are the developments on things happening with men here and also some clarification as people are getting confused.
There was Paul who I really liked and is in the US army. There was a lot of excitement at the beginning and now that has fizzled out in the last few days. He is a terrible communicator and I just couldn't handle that. He made a lot of promises which he couldn't fulfill - been there done that. I want to see him again because he has my Canada mittens which I lent him when it was cold out. Damn!
I met James when I got off the subway a few weeks ago and he wanted to know if I would go with him and his friends to eat KFC but I said no. Remember? We went to Seoul Tower together a few weekends ago. Anyways he wanted to be more than friends and I didn't so that's not happening.
I'm trying to meet more Koreans as I want to have more Korean friends. I'll keep you posted on that front.
I'm excited for an adventure I signed up for at the end of March. It's an overnight temple stay. We leave Saturday morning, go to the temple and stay there overnight leaving on Sunday afternoon. It's near an apple orchard where we can make apple pie and taste apple wine. I'm excited to have such a different experience! I will come back all zenned out. I have tried meditation before but find it difficult. I can't quite my mind. But, I will give it a chance again!
This past week at work was a turning point for me. Each day was good. I have one less student (2 left but got a new one) and the dynamic has totally changed. The class is more calm. They've also been in school for a month now so are a bit more used to the routine of everything. Although, I'm floored every day when someone forgets how to do something we do EVERY day. Why are you walking into the room and going to grab a book before you take your coat off? We do this every day. Nothing has changed. Little minds are so funny.
Looking forward to feeling better this week and heading into a fun weekend! I ended the weekend by eating at Roof Top with Katy. It's a restaurant where you take your shoes off before entering the little room and sit on the ground cushions. She told me she had been there before and ordered the steak but it ended up being chicken. So that's what I did but it was definitely steak. Oh well - it was still delicious!
I told Katy that it's just going to look like we are eating at a normal table because no one can see that we are sitting on the ground. But trust me - we were.
Lots of Love,
Alli
